Beterbiev Vs Smith: Start Time, TV Schedule, Ring Walks

Beterbiev vs Smith  will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. PT/7 p.m. PT

The WBC/WBO/IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev had unforeseen dental procedure that led to the postponement of his August 19 bout with ex-world champion Callum Smith. The new date? Saturday, January 13, to be held at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Canada.

Bob Arum, Top Rank’s chairman, expressed his delight. “Although the bout is delayed by a few months, I’m excited for Artur Beterbiev to showcase his skills before the Quebec City audience,” he stated. He further added that with Beterbiev’s full recovery and Smith’s reputation as a prior champion, January 13th is bound to see a great fight.

Camille Estephan, the president of Eye of the Tiger, chimed in on the enthusiasm, “I’m grateful for the swift agreement between the camps, ensuring this light heavyweight championship mega bout goes on.” He predicts a heated atmosphere come January in Quebec City.

Diving into statistics, Beterbiev boasts a 19-0 record, all of them being knockouts. Since seizing the IBF title in November 2017, he’s defended it seven times. His most recent victory? An eighth-round TKO against Anthony Yarde in London. Smith, a Liverpool native with a record of 29-1 and 21 KOs, previously held the titles of Ring Magazine and WBA super middleweight world champion. After a loss to Canelo Alvarez in December 2020, he shifted to the light heavyweight division, securing two wins since.

Undercard Announced

The super middleweight sensation, Christian Mbilli, is set to defend his WBC Continental Americas and WBA International super middleweight crowns against the mighty Aussie, Rohan Murdock, this Saturday, January 13th. The Videotron Centre in Quebec City will surely be filled with excitement and roaring noise.

This Mbilli-Murdock fight will light up the evening, right before Artur Beterbiev goes toe-to-toe with the ex-world champ, Callum Smith, defending his WBO/WBC/IBF light heavyweight world titles.

Word on the street is that Mbilli’s exciting performances against the likes of Nadjib Mohammedi, Carlos Gongora, and Demond Nicholson have been making significant noise globally. With his name ranking high in the WBC, WBA, and IBF, the world’s watching, especially with the traffic jam set by the undisputed champ, Canelo Alvarez.

Mbilli voiced his enthusiasm, stating, “Facing Rohan Murdock brings a fresh challenge. It’s not just a fight; it’s a chance to win over new hearts. January 13 in Quebec, expect fireworks!”

On the flip side, Murdock, with a record of (27-2, 19 KOs), has been on a winning streak since his fall to Zach Parker. His latest victory was a tight split decision over Isaac Hardman, earning him the IBF Australasian super middleweight belt. Murdock’s energy is contagious, as he shared, “This fight is a golden chance, and I’ve tasted both sweet and bitter. I’ve prepped for this, and come January 13, victory will be mine.”

Additional fights to complement this make-or-break event will be unveiled soon. If you want to be part of this electric atmosphere, tickets are up for grabs at www.ticketmaster.ca.
