Boxing Results: Angel ‘Tashiro’ Fierro Wins Split Decision Over Brian Zammaripa!
By Ken Hissner: At the Auditorio Municipal Fausto Gutierrez Moreno, Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico Friday over DAZN promoted by Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) presented in the Main Event WBO NABO Lightweight champion Angel ‘Tashiro’ Fierro won a disputed split decision over Brayan Zammaripa.
WBC Interim World Featherweight champion Sabrina ‘La Munequita’ Maribel Perez lost her title to WBC Silver Featherweight champion Skye Nicholson by decision.
In the Main Event WBO NABO Lightweight champ Angel ‘Tashiro’ Fierro, 22-1-2 (17), #134.5, of Tijuana, MEX, won a disputed split decision over southpaw Brayon Zammaripa, 13-2 (4), #134.5, of Ensenada, Baja California, MEX, over a 10 round war!
In the second round Zammaripa boxed well taking it to Fierro. In the third round Zammaripa rocked Fierro several times in the final minute. Fierro got in a left uppercut to the chin. In the fourth round it was all Zammaripa dishing out much punishment on Fierro.In the fifth rounds final minute Fierro hurt Zammaripa with a combination. Zammaripa came back well in the final minute.In the sixth round there was a cut on the right eyebrow of Zammaripa in a war of a round with both having their moments. In the seventh round Zammaripa seconds from the start hurt Fierro with a body shot with a left on the ribs. Fierro would come back halfway into the round. In the eighth round Fierro knocked out the mouthpiece of Zammaripa and Referee Edward Hernandez, Sr. ignored it for half a round.In the ninth round oddly both boxers had to get their tape repaired at the same time. Fierro never kept coming forward as Zammaripa countered in a war. In the tenth and final round Fierro had Zammaripa out on his feet with a right to the chin in the first minute. Halfway through the round referee Hernandez called a halt to again have Zammaripa’s tape repaired helping him. In the second half of the fight Zammaripa got the better of Fierro as the war continued.Scores were 96-94 Fierro, 96-94 Zammaripa and 96-95 for Fierro with 96-94 Zammaripa for KH.WBC Interim World Featherweight champ Sabrina ‘La Munequita’ Maribel Perez, 18-2-1 (2), #125.7, of Isidro Casanova, Buena Aires, ARG, lost her title to 2020 Olympian and WBC Silver and Commonwealth Feather champ Skye Nicholson, 8-0 (0), #125.7, of Yatala, Queensland, AUST, over 10×2 rounds.In the second round Nicholson hurt Perez with body shots. In the third through the seventh round the taller southpaw Nicholson outworked Perez for the most part.In the eighth round Nicholson continued out landing Perez. In the tenth and final round with the left eye of Perez near closing Nicholson looked more like the champion.Scores were 99-91, 98-92 and 97-93 as did KH.Former WBA Feather champion now Super Bantamweight Erika ‘Dinamita’ Cruz, 16-2 (3), #122, of Mexico City, MEX, in a war defeated southpaw Melissa Oddessa, 6-2 (2), #122, of Spring, TEX, over 10×2 action rounds.In the first four rounds Cruz the puncher and Oddessa was the boxer. In the seventh round Oddessa landed many power punches taking another round.In the eighth round a clash of heads had both boxers cut with the one on the hairline of Cruz and the right eyebrow of Oddessa. In the ninth round it was a slugfest from both with Oddessa rocking Cruz on several occasions. In the tenth and final round the war continued between the two warriors.Scores were 99-91 twice and 98-92 with 97-93 KH.Featherweight Kevin ‘El Gallo Negro’ Barron Crespo, 12-1 (9), #125.7, of Tijuana, Baja California, MEX, lost for the first time to Christian ‘Kiki’ Olivo, 21-1-1 (7), #125.7, of Hermosillo, Sonora, MEX and San Diego, CA, over 10 action packed rounds.In the first four rounds Crespo had an edge out working Olivio by counter punching. In the eighth round Olivio had his best round. In the ninth round Olivio continued getting the best of Crespo hurting him late in the round after Crespo started the round fast hurting Olivio. In the tenth and final round the action continued right to the bell between the two of them with Crespo winning the first half and Olivio the second half with swelling under his right eye at the end.Scores were 97-93 twice and 96-94 as did KH.Heavyweight Federico Pacheco, Jr., 5-0 (4), #262, of L.A, CA, knocked out Carlos Cardenas, 4-1 (3), #224, of Guadalajara, Jalisco, MEX, at 2:58 of the third round of a scheduled 4.In the first round the much taller Pacheco rocked Cardenas with a right on the chin halfway through the round. In the third round a pair of left uppercuts from Pacheco to the midsection and down went Cardenas and out.
