Carl Froch Explains Why He’s Picking Oleksandr Usyk To Beat Tyson Fury

Carl Froch believes Oleksandr Usyk will get his hand raised against Tyson Fury in February.

Usyk and Fury are set to box on Feb. 17 in Saudi Arabia in a highly-anticipated matchup. Fury enters the fight as the betting favorite, but after his performance against Francis Ngannou, many think the bout against Usyk is more competitive than originally thought.

With Tyson Fury not looking good in his last fight, Carl Froch admits he is picking Oleksandr Usyk to win due to where Fury is at mentally right now.

“I’m picking Usyk for that one, just because of where Tyson Fury is mentally. Hopefully, Fury can have a good camp and rekindle some of his old greatness in terms of when he fought Deontay Wilder three times,” Froch told Talk Sport. “He looked good, he looked different every time. I don’t know, that’s gone now. He struggles to get the weight off him. He seems under-motivated. When he fought Ngannou he looked confused. Has he got old overnight? Hopefully he turns up and gets the job done, because I want those titles to return to Britain, but at the minute I think Usyk wins that fight.”

Tyson Fury is currently 34-0-1 as a pro and coming off the split decision win over Francis Ngannou. Before that, he had TKO wins over Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte after the back-to-back knockout wins over Deontay Wilder. He’s currently the WBC heavyweight champion.

Oleksandr Usyk, meanwhile, is 21-0 and coming off a ninth-round KO win over Daniel Dubois last time out. Before that, Usyk had back-to-back wins over Anthony Joshua to win the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.

Do you agree with Carl Froch that Oleksandr Usyk beats Tyson Fury?
