Deontay Wilder Believes Anthony Joshua Is Intimidated By Him

Deontay Wilder believes Anthony Joshua is intimidated by him.

Wilder and Joshua are set to return to the ring on Saturday night in Saudi Arabia, but it won’t be against one another. Instead, Wilder will face Joseph Parker while Joshua will take on Wallin, but should the two win, they are set to meet on March 9.

“Money hasn’t been the issue. It comes with not having the heart, the will, the courage to step in the ring,” Wilder told BBC Sport. “I don’t really just blame it on Joshua. I blame it on his handlers, on his promotion and his management. Because let’s face it Joshua is the cash cow of the company. Without him, no money is drawn into Matchroom. We all know that. Not only do I feel Joshua is intimidated of me, but I feel his promoter is as well. That’s why the fight hasn’t happened.”

With there being reports that Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua are set to meet on March 9, Wilder admits that does add pressure to ‘The Bronze Bomber’ to get his hand raised.

“I’m taking the biggest risk because they’re looking past Parker – but I’m not,” Wilder told Carl Frampton. “Joshua is the biggest fight in combat sport, period. When people talk to me, the main thing they talk about is me and him, all the time. It applies pressure because the world wants to see [it].”

Deontay Wilder is 43-2-1 and coming off a KO win over Robert Helenius in the first round back in October of 2022. In his career, he also holds notable wins over Luis Ortiz, Dominic Breazeale, Gerald Washington, and Chris Arreola among others, as he is the former WBC heavyweight champion.

Do you think Deontay Wilder would beat Anthony Joshua in a potential fight?
