MMA debutee Dylan Reischman’s professional debut went from exciting to a total nightmare in seconds.
Reischman fought Jaime Mora on the Combate Global: Ferreira vs. Morales preliminary card on Saturday in Miami, FL. After a 3-1 run in amateur MMA, Reischman was making his first walk to the cage as a professional at just 21 years old.
After a back-and-forth first round between Reischman and Mora, Mora engaged Reischman in the clinch against the cage in Round 2. Mora scored a massive takedown that resulted in Reischman shattering his leg on the fall, immediately drawing the referee’s attention and stopping the fight.

An immediate medical update on Reischman hasn’t been made public as of this writing. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital immediately following the injury.
Reischman’s leg break is the latest in a series of nasty lower-body injuries in MMA in recent years. This includes former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, who returned to the Octagon last month at UFC 292 after a multiple-year absence for rehabilitation.
Reischman’s injury shows how dangerous combat sports can be, and he’ll look to begin a path to full recovery in the coming months.
