Jamahal Hill feels he’ll give newly-minted UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira plenty of headaches in their expected clash next year.
Pereira defeated former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiří Procházka for the vacant title on Saturday night at UFC 295. Hill vacated the belt after suffering an Achilles injury earlier this year just months after his UFC 283 title win.
Hill’s timeline for return is uncertain, although he’s planning on a comeback fight for sometime next year. He’s expected to get an immediate title shot when he’s ready to fight again.
After witnessing the next chapter of the UFC’s light heavyweight division, Hill reminded Pereira and the top contenders of his standing.

In a recent interview with TNT Sports, Hill assessed the UFC 295 main event and Pereira’s new championship reign.
“I thought the stoppage was a little early, they could’ve let it go a little bit more, give [Jiří Procházka] a chance to defend himself a little more,” Hill said. “But overall, [Alex Pereira] landed some good shots…overall, I just think I’m on a different level than what I saw.
“Whenever I come back, whoever’s posing as champion will have to see the real champ…[recovery] is going really good, I’ll be ready to start camp by January, and from there we’ll just get locked in and get rolling from there. Hopefully second quarter of next year [I’ll return].”
Hill won the then-vacant UFC light heavyweight belt at UFC 283 in a dominant win over Glover Teixeira. The win capped off a four-fight winning streak that has included recent finishes of Johnny Walker and Thiago Santos.
Pereira became the ninth two-division UFC champion in the promotion’s history through just 11 career MMA fights. He won his light heavyweight debut earlier this year at UFC 291 over former titleholder Jan Blachowicz.
UFC President Dana White said during his post-fight press conference that Pereira vs. Hill is the fight to make after UFC 295. As Hill recovers from his ailment, his vision remains laser-focused on reclaiming the belt he never formally lost.
