Both Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera found success in their respective bouts at UFC 292. Now, “Chito” is demanding that he gets the first crack at the new champion.
Heading into UFC 292, O’Malley made it clear that he wanted to fight Vera, should both men be successful in their fights on the Boston card. “Suga'” was facing Aljamain Sterling in an attempt to capture the bantamweight title, while “Chito” took a short notice fight against Pedro Munhoz, who replaced an injured Henry Cejudo.

Marlon Vera Demands Sean O’Malley Rematch
In the end, Sean O’Malley would score the knockout over Sterling to win the 135lb belt, while Marlon Vera would batter Munhoz to win a unanimous decision. So after the main event, “Suga'” Sean unsurprisingly called for the rematch against Vera, as he would look to avenge his only loss, after “Chito” TKO’d him in 2020.
Despite having fought for three whole rounds, just a few hours earlier, Vera was clearly listening closely to the callout from O’Malley. He immediately took to Twitter, accepting the request and telling the UFC to send over the contract for what he clearly believes will be a big money fight for everyone involved.
“Take a seat kids,” Vera wrote, before adding, “💰💰💰💰💰💰💰 Send me contract ok”

This rematch would obviously be huge for the UFC, given the built in backstory between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera. That being said, there is a question of whether or not this makes the most sense, with other contenders like Merab Dvalishvili and Cory Sandhagen waiting in the wings, and riding more impressive winning streaks than “Chito,” so time will tell exactly what the UFC decides to do in the always exciting bantamweight division after these big shakeups at UFC 292.
