Natasha Jonas Wins Split Decision Over Mayer!

IBF World Female Welterweight champion Natasha Jonas winning a disputed split decision over former 2015 Olympian, former IBF and WBO World Female Super Featherweight champion Mikaela Mayer.

In the Co-Main Event in a rematch in previous draw in 2020 British and Commonwealth Super Middleweight champion Jack ‘Litle Lever’s Meat Cleaver’ Cullen lost in a decision to former English champion Zak Chelli over 12 rounds.In the Main Event IBF World Female Welter champ southpaw Natasha Jonas, 15-2-1 (9), #146, of Liverpool, UK, won a disputed split decision over former IBF and WBO Female Super Feather champ Mikaela Mayer, 19-2 (5), #146 ½, of Las Vegas, Nevada, over 10×2 rounds retaining her title.In the first round the shorter southpaw Jonas has a slight edge. In the second round it was Mayer the aggressor taking a close round. In the third rounds first minute Jonas used a good body attack. In the second minute Mayer came back well landing rights in a close round.In the fourth round Mayer used her right well while Jonas landed left hooks to the body. Mayer landed a flurry of punches having Jonas against the ropes at the bell. In the fifth round Jonas seemed to have a slight edge in an action round.In the sixth round Mayer had Jonas hold on several times outworking her. In the seventh round it was close with Mayer landing more, but Jonas countering well. Twenty seconds into the eighth round Mayer rocked Jonas with a left hook on the chin. Good round for Mayer.In the ninth round the left eye of Jonas looked to have some damage from the right hands of Mayer in another action round. In the tenth and final round Mayer had a big round having the left eye of Jonas almost closed having her in trouble and holding on several times. In the third round Cullen used an effective jab while the tough Chelli was matching him punch for punch causing a small cut on Cullen’s left eyelid with a right hand.In the fourth round Chelli did enough to outwork Cullen. In the fifth and sixth rounds it continued to be little to choose between both boxers.In the seventh round just over a minute Cullen landed a good left to the body hurting Chelli. Between rounds Cullens corner said he was behind and needed to do more. In the eighth and ninth rounds Chelli continued doing a little more than Cullen offensive wise.In the tenth rounds midway point Chelli rocked Cullen with a right on the chin. In the eleventh round Chelli still seemed to have an edge outworking Cullen. In the twelfth and final round Chelli had the nose and mouth of Cullen bleeding. Referee Michael Alexander.Scores were 116-113, 116-112 and 116-113.WBC Int’l Middle champ Aaron ‘Silencer’ McKenna, 18-0 (9), #168, of Smithborough, IRE, and L.A., CA, stopped late substitute Mickey ‘Caveman’ Ellison, 14-7 (5), #171, of Darwen, Lancashire, UK, at 2:41 of the sixth round of a scheduled 8 rounds.In the first three rounds late substitute Ellison chased McKenna with little contact from either boxer. In the fourth and fifth rounds McKenna finally put together some offense in each round.In the sixth rounds final minute McKenna landed four unanswered punches against the exhausted Ellison when Referee Mark Lyson suddenly called a halt.English Super Middle champ Mark Jeffers, 17-0 (4), #167, of Chorley, Lancashire, UK, defeated Germaine Brown, 13-3 (4), #167, of Kingston, London, UK, 10 rounds.Scores were 98-93 and 99-92 twice. Referee John LathamFeather southpaw 2020 Olympic Bronze Medalist Karriss Artingstall, 6-0 (1), #124 ½, of Macclessfield, UK, won a close decision over world ranked Lila dos Santos Furtado, 9-1 (1), #124, of Guanulhos, Sao Paulo, BRZ, over 8×2 action rounds.In the first rounds final seconds the taller southpaw Artingstall landed a left on the chin dropping Furtado for an 8-count from Referee John Latham. Furtado’s corner complained it was after the bell. In the second and third rounds Furtado came back well enough to make it a close round.In the fourth round Artingstall drew blood from the nose of Furtado in a competitive round. In the fifth round Furtado did enough to outland Artingstall in a close round.In the seventh round again Artingstall drew blood from the nose of Furtado in a competitive round of action. In the eighth and final round Furtado needing a knockout did her best in coming forward but couldn’t pull it off in a close round.Scores were 77-75 by referee John Latham.Cruiser Jack ‘One Smack’ Massey, 20-2 (11), #204, of Marple, Chesire, UK, Steve Eloundou Ntere, 8-1 (3), #201, of Asse, Vlaarms, Brabant, BELG, 6 rounds.In the first roundRefereeFlyweight Mikie Tallon, 4-0 (0), #111, of Everton, Liverpool, defeated southpaw Adam Yahaya, 23-12-2 (12), #113, of Dar-Es-Salaam, TANZ, over 4 rounds.Referee Mark Lyson scored 40-36.Middleweight Stephen Clarke, 1-0 (1), #160, of Liverpool, UK, stopped Vasif Mamedov, 3-47-5 (0), #166 ¼, of Russia and Southampton, UK, at 1:53 of the third round of a scheduled 4 rounds.In the first two rounds it was all Clarke boxing well. In the third round Mamedov missed a punch and turned his back and got hit by several punches from Clarke on the back of his head before Referee Mark Lyson finally stepped in stopping the fight. Mamedov is 0-27-2 in his last 29 fights.
