‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung had a memorable run in the Octagon, but one fight stands above the rest.
TKZ’s final UFC fight against former UFC champion Max Holloway in Singapore ended in a TKO loss. Despite the setback, TKZ held his own against one of the top fighters in the world and was adored by the fans in attendance.
TKZ’s UFC tenure featured multiple title fights and a series of impressive wins over top talents. He helped put South Korea on the map in MMA by defeating the likes of Dustin Poirier, Mark Hominick, and Frankie Edgar.
But for TKZ, his last fight was the perfect way to complete his run in the UFC.
‘The Korean Zombie’ Admits Retirement Fight Was His Favorite
During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, TKZ didn’t hesitate when asked for his all-time favorite moment of his UFC career.
“My last fight,” TKZ said. “Everything was perfect. The timing, my opponent being Max Holloway, the audience, the crowd, all the love they showed me…this fight s the only fight I have zero regret after the fight was finished. Even though I lost by knockout, I have zero regret, so that’s why I’d say it’s my most memorable fight.”
TKZ fought for the UFC featherweight title at UFC 273, losing by fourth-round TKO to Alexander Volkanovski. His last victory was against Dan Ige by unanimous decision in June 2021.
TKZ is the latest in a slew of UFC veterans to end his career on his terms, joining the likes of recent retirees Robbie Lawler and Donald Cerrone. As he looks ahead to the next chapter of his life, he’s happy with the way the previous chapter ended.
