Tszyu Not Upset About “B-Side” Status, Eager For Thurman Showdown
Tim Tszyu is unconcerned at learning that he’s the B-side to Keith Thurman’s A-side for their March 30th clash on Amazon Prime PPV in Las Vegas.
The promoters for the event at PBC have put the inactive former WBA & WBC welterweight champion Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) before the unbeaten WBO junior middleweight champion Tszyu (24-0, 17 KOs) in the promotional posters for their headliner at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
B-Side Status a Non-Issue
The 35-year-old Thurman hasn’t fought in two years and hasn’t held a world title in five since 2019. PBC is obviously has put Thurman’s name in front of Tszyu’s for business purposes because he’s more popular in the U.S, and they’ve got to sell this event on PPV.
It makes sense to have Thurman in front of Tszyu, even though he’s the underdog and is seen as having very little chance of winning.
“I’m the champ. That’s all that matters to me. I know what I possess and what I bring. So, B-side, A-side, I don’t care about that stuff. It doesn’t bother me,” said Tim Tszyu to Fighthype, reacting to being the B-side for his fight against Keith Thurman, who hasn’t fought in two years and hasn’t held a world title since 2018.
Criticism of Modern Fighters
“There’s no old school fighters anymore. They’re all a bunch of p****. They fight once a year, and then they go on two-year vacations. I actually fight. Last year, I did three fights with Showtime. That was the most any fighter did in the whole year.
“To me, it’s activity. I’m willing to fight anyone, and I do damage when I get in the ring. I was so pumped,” said Tszyu when asked what his reaction was when he found out he was fighting Thurman.
Thrilled by Thurman Matchup
“For me to perform on this big stage for the caliber of an opponent like Keith Thurman. To have someone like that on your resume it’s good. I don’t care about the critics. He’s going to be the one in trouble, not me. I can keep fighting who I can.
“There’s a list of names that I can tick, tick, tick. I’m like a grim reaper holding it. Keith Thurman will be just another name on the hit list,” said Tszyu.
