UFC Star Derrick Lewis Charged With Reckless Driving (136 MPH) Just Days Before Octagon Return
UFC heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis is in some legal trouble ahead of his short-notice main event against Jailton Almeida this weekend.
Lewis was arrested and charged with reckless driving after allegedly going 136 MPH in his Lamborghini in a 50 MPH zone. He was pulled over by law enforcement after weaving in and out of traffic and past a speed trap of a police officer.
Lewis was charged with the misdemeanor in a Harris County (TX) courtroom last Wednesday. He’s slated to return to court on December 27th.
Lewis faces a possible jail sentence of up to 30 days and/or a fine of around $200 if found guilty.

Derrick Lewis Busted For Driving Offense Ahead Of UFC São Paulo
Lewis returns to the UFC Octagon this Saturday against the surging Almeida in São Paulo, Brazil. He most recently finished Marcos Rogério de Lima at UFC 291 following three consecutive losses.
Lewis is a fan favorite after setting the record for most knockouts in UFC history (14). He’s aiming for at least one more heavyweight title push before he decides to ultimately hang up the gloves.
As of this writing, Lewis hasn’t publicly addressed the recent arrest and his fight with Almeida is a go for Saturday. He’s focused on earning another big win as he awaits a legal resolution outside of the cage.
