MMA journalist Ariel Helwani paused his boxing coverage of the upcoming Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz event to address Jamahal Hill’s heated comments and threats.
Hill, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, stirred the pot this week when he issued an expletive-laden video response to a recent interview Helwani did with Jiří Procházka. During the interview in question, Helwani hinted at Hill allegedly mocking Procházka’s shoulder rehabilitation ahead of a potential fight between the two.
Hill didn’t take kindly to the interview and went as far as threatening to confront Helwani in person. He called Helwani a “b**ch”, “snake”, along with being “weak and pathetic”.
Helwani, who is in Dallas, TX this week to cover the Paul vs. Diaz boxing match, took the time to address Hill and his recent tirade.

During the Paul vs. Diaz DAZN Boxing Show, Helwani took the time to respond to Hill’s heated remarks.
“They were asking me a lot about Jamahal Hill, the former light heavyweight champion, who has had some things to say about me on his YouTube channel and over the last few months. I don’t know where we got off on the wrong foot, because the last text conversation that I had with Jamahal was actually a very nice and cordial one, but for whatever reason there’s been a bit of a heel turn as of late,” Helwani said.
“I don’t think this is the platform and the moment to get into a whole battle, a whole 10-7 situation, and I think that, despite the receipts, and despite him getting a lot of things… wrong,” Helwani continued. “No problem, it’s all good. I come here with love in my heart. So what I want to say to Jamahal Hill, because a lot of you were asking me to respond to Jamahal Hill, this is what I want to say: You keep talking about being a man and all this stuff. I want to extend an invitation to you, Jamahal Hill, who I have nothing but respect for, and I think that your thoughts on the way I think about you are very wrong. I’d like to extend an invitation to you to come in studio, on my program, and we can hash it out, mano a mano, man to man. We can talk about the issues, and hopefully we can squash the beef. I would love that opportunity.”
Helwani then addressed Hill’s claims that he’s a ‘click-bait journalist’ in MMA.
“In case you think I’m trying to get views, click bait, all that stuff, I’ll tell you what. If you do come on the show, I’ll give you the full entire interview, and you can put it on your YouTube channel, you can cut it up, you can post the entire thing, you can have all the views that you want. I’ll only promote that link, I won’t even promote my own,” Helwani proposed.
“So the invitation is extended. I would love to have you on to talk it out, just like I called you and you sent me to voicemail when this initially popped off. I like to deal with things behind the scenes. I like to figure things out. Of course I’m going to talk about you. You’re one of the biggest stars. I’m going to ask Jiří Procházka questions about you. But I’d love to figure this out, so the invitation has been extended if you want to come on the show, in studio or via Zoom, I’d love to have you.”
Hill also took exception to Helwani’s questioning during a post-fight interview on The MMA Hour following his title win at UFC 283. He went on to vacate the title a few months later due to an Achilles injury.
Hill defeated Glover Teixeira for the then-vacant UFC light heavyweight title earlier this year at UFC 283. He’s expected to be sidelined for about a year to rehabilitate from an Achilles tear he suffered during a recent basketball game.
Things are heating up between Hill and Helwani, and things are expected to escalate in the coming days.
